Clifton is a quarry village of some 350 people (about 70 houses) on the slopes of the hills west of the central plain.<br />
<br />
The brown hills rise west and north, with a stone quarry cut into the hillside northwest of the village. The plain spreads east and south. Roads lead southwest toward the coast, south, and northeast across the plain. The houses are stone, on terraced lanes.<br />
<br />
Clifton stone built Calaron's walls; the quarry masters remember every block, and every debt.<br />
